SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Marian University women’s basketball (2-10, 2-10 NACC) fell in the finale of their Lakeland series by a 70-56 final.
The Muskies were able to build a lead early jumping ahead 16-5 in the first five minutes of the game. The Sabres would battle back to cut their deficit down to seven by the end of the first quarter at 21-14. Marian was able to score the first three points of the second quarter before Lakeland used a 15-2 run to take a 36-19 advantage with 3:54 left until halftime. The Muskies were able to build their lead out to as large as 19 and took a 42-26 lead into half.
A 9-3 run from Lakeland opened the second half and the Muskies would hold this lead out to the end of the third quarter at 59-41. The Sabres were able to outscore the Muskies 15-11 in the final quarter but couldn’t rally from their first-half deficit falling 70-56.
Four of the five Marian starters finished with double-digit points led by sophomore Claire Levendoski who scored 14 points. Junior Paris Harris and freshman Serina Pehowski each had 12 points, while Pehowski also had seven rebounds. Senior Morgan Johnson scored 11 points to go with a pair of blocks and four rebounds.
