Sabre women’s basketball drops finale to MSOE 62-49

MILWAUKEE – Marian University women’s basketball (2-8, 2-8 NACC) had a higher field goal percentage than MSOE but fell to the Raiders 62-49.
The first quarter opened to a 5-5 tie before the Raiders took the first significant advantage of the game with a 7-2 run. MSOE eventually brought this lead out to a 17-12 advantage heading into the first break. Marian managed to cut their deficit down to one at 22-21 with 5:36 left until halftime, but MSOE responded with a 12-3 spurt to go up 34-24. MSOE was able to take a 36-27 lead into the half.
The Raiders then took control of the game in the third quarter outscoring Marian 16-10 and taking a 52-37 lead into the fourth quarter. Marian was able to outscore MSOE 12-10 in the final quarter but couldn’t rally from their early deficit falling 62-49.
Marian hit eight three-pointers in the defeat, but turnovers proved to be costly as MSOE converted 20 Sabre turnovers into 20 points.
Junior Paris Harris had a strong performance posting a game-high 20 points to go with eight rebounds.
Marian opens the final series of the season at Lakeland Friday, Feb. 26 for a 7 p.m. tip.
