RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Marian University women’s volleyball (5-11, 1-4 NACC) dropped their opening match of the weekend in straight sets to Concordia Chicago with scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-19.

The Sabres competed well against the Cougars but in each set it was just one run from CUC that wound up being the difference.  In the first set it was a 12-5 run after CUC held a slim 9-8 lead, the second set a 6-1 opening lead for the Cougars, and the third set a 7-1 run after the teams were knotted at 8-8.

Freshman Cheyenne Henson led the offense with seven kills, while sophomore Andrea Kubicek led the back row with 11 digs.  Senior Amber Baker assisted on 25 of the 28 MU kills.
