Sabre track and field opens outdoor season at Private Championships

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Marian University track and field opened the outdoor portion of their season at the Private School Championships, hosted by Carroll University.

Despite the cold weather, Kadeesha Duncan was able to highlight the meet with a school record in the 400-meter dash where she finished 13th with a time of 1:08.12.  The Sabres had a pair of good runs from Alexis Brost and Alyssa Zuhlke in the 1,500 meters.  Brost finished with a 5:45.83 putting her in 21st, while Zuhlke finished in 26th at 5:49.02.

In the field events, Danya Phillips finished seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.35 meters with Miera Smith finishing 13th in the triple jump at 9.61 meters.  Emily Grunwald finished in 14th for the discus with a toss of 20.93 meters and took 26th in the shot put at 7.19 meters.

Colin Wilson led the way on the men’s side of things finishing 14th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.14.

Marian is scheduled to travel to Carroll once again next weekend, Saturday, April 14, for the Carroll Invite.
