WAUKESHA, Wis. – Marian University men’s volleyball picked up 50 votes in the inaugural NACC men’s volleyball preseason poll to put the Sabres in fourth, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
Dominican will enter the first season of NACC men’s volleyball as the preseason favorite after picking up 11 first-place votes for a total of 94 votes. The Stars finished 26-3 last season and earned a bye into the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Dominican won both the regular season and tournament titles in its former conference for men’s volleyball, the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League.
MSOE was second with 84 points and the remaining three top nods, Benedictine University was third with 73 and Marian University was fourth with 50.
Lakeland University was fifth with 46 points, followed by Aurora University’s 29 and Concordia University Wisconsin’s 16.
The NACC’s regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
Marian opens the season Friday, Jan. 19 at Adrian with the home opener for the Sabres coming Friday, Feb. 9 against Lakeland at 7 p.m.
