LISLE, Ill. – Marian University men’s volleyball (11-14, 4-7 NACC) struggled to slow down the offense of No. 5 Benedictine falling in straight sets with scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-12.
The Eagles finished the match with a .295 hitting percentage only committing 16 attack errors. On the offensive side, Marian struggled to find a groove as they would only rack up 21 kills off of an .086 hitting percentage. Senior Aaron Wendels had a match-high 10 kills to lead the Sabres.
Wendels also tied with junior Jon Smallpage with six digs to lead the Sabres on the defensive end. Junior Ben Walter had three block assists, while sophomore Jacob DeGroot had three kills with a .500 hitting percentage to go with a solo block and block assist.
Junior Cullen Liberski had five digs and assisted on 20 of the 21 Marian kills.
Marian closes out the regular season hosting No. 7 Dominican Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m. The Sabres will need a win combined with losses from Lakeland and Aurora to host the opening round of the NACC Tournament.
