Sabre men’s soccer stifled by Raiders

October 5, 2017

Marian University men’s soccer (7-5-0, 2-3-0 NACC) struggled to slow down the potent offense of MSOE falling 5-0 to the Raiders in NACC action.

The Raiders would tally four goals in the first half, including one in the final five-seconds, as they managed to outshoot the Sabres 19-6.  Freshman keeper Cory Koehler stopped 10 of the 14 shots that were on goal for the Sabres.

The Marian defense was much better in the second half only allowing three shots on goal.  The Raiders would close out the scoring in the 85th minute but junior Ian Chacon made a pair of saves in relief of Koehler.  The Sabre offense was also able to create opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Senior Alonso Fragoso recorded all four of Marian’s shots on goals in the loss.

Marian remains at home when they host Aurora Saturday, Oct. 7 at noon from Smith Field.
