Sabre men’s soccer routs Highlanders

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Marian University men’s soccer (5-1-0, 0-0-0 NACC) opened a non-conference road trip defeating MacMurray by an 8-0 final.

The beginning of the game was all about senior Alonso Fragoso who scored the game’s first four goals.  Fragoso netted the first goal just 1:42 into the contest with his second coming in the 13th minute, assist to junior Eric Rodriguez, and his third coming just five minutes later.

Fragoso then opened the second half with goal number four on the day just 5:49 into the half.  Senior Hansen Olson added to the lead with a 55th minute goal before it was once again Fragoso who found the back of the net in the 58th minute with his fifth goal of the game.

Senior Fredrik Radbjer closed out the scoring with a goal in the 81st minute, assist to junior Ben Fabian, and the 87th minute, assist to junior Alexis Estela.

The Sabres dominated all game and outshot the Highlanders 27-1 for the game.

With the 10-point game, Fragoso moved into a tie for third on the Marian all-time scoring list.  Junior Ian Chacon (5-1-0) posted his fifth shutout with the help of his defense only allowing one shot to be sent his way.

Marian closes out the weekend traveling to Fontbonne tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 17, for a 3 p.m. kick off.
