Sabre men’s soccer rally falls short in season finale

October 25, 2018

Marian University men’s soccer (4-10-2, 2-8-1 NACC) scored a pair of second half goals but fell to Edgewood 3-2 in their season finale.

The Eagles started fast scoring three goals in the opening half with two of the goals being separated by only 3:38.  The Eagles would hold a 13-2 advantage in shots in the opening half before the tide turned in the second half.

Marian would record nine shots in the second half as the offense started to click.  The Sabres would manage a pair of goals in a span of 4:35 to make things interesting late in the game.  Freshman Juan Herrera netted his third goal of the year at the 77:48 mark off of a corner to open the scoring for Marian.  Then fellow freshman Brandon Mancini found the back of the net for the fifth time this year from the left side of the box.

Senior Ian Chacon (5-8-2) closed out his career with a 10-save game marking the sixth double-digit save performance for him this season.
