October 13, 2017

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Marian University men’s soccer (7-7-0, 2-4-0 NACC) made the most of their opportunities but fell to UW-Platteville 2-1 in overtime in non-conference action.

The Pioneers would hold the Sabres to only three shots in the game but senior Alonso Fragoso was able to find the back of the net in the 61st minute in response to a UWP goal at the 57:00 mark.  The goal was number 19 on the season for Fragoso who was assisted by freshman Cade Klussendorf.

From there the story was all about junior Ian Chacon (6-7-0) who made eight saves in goal, four in each half, and was able to force overtime with his big stops.

In the extra period, UW-Platteville would find the back of the net on their first shot with just over two minutes remaining in the first overtime.

Fragoso, freshman Grant Langen and sophomore Marco Romero each recorded shots in the loss.

Marian remains on the road when they travel to Rockford Saturday, Oct. 14 for a 1 p.m. game in NACC action.
