Sabre men’s soccer drops defensive battle to MSOE 2-1

MILWAUKEE – Marian University men’s soccer (3-4-0, 3-4-0 NACC) fell just short on the road being defeated by MSOE 2-1.

It was a physical game with five total yellow cards being handed out.  The Raiders outshot Marian 11-6 in the opening stanza and netted the only goal of the half in the 27th minute.  Just 2:35 into the second half, sophomore Brad Leach scored his second goal of the season with assists to freshman Drew Cowden and fellow sophomore Max Kauffman to quickly tie the game at 1-1.  This tie held for 14 minutes until MSOE scored the final goal of the game in the 62nd minute.

Marian finished with nine shots in the defeat with sophomore Chase Hayden recording three shots to pace the offense, two of which were on goal.  Senior Cory Koehler (0-2-0) had a strong showing in net for the Sabres making seven saves on nine shots he faced.

Marian closes out NACC play taking on Lakeland at home Wednesday, April 14 for a 7 p.m. kick-off.  With a victory, the Sabres would clinch a spot in the NACC tournament.
