Concordia Wisconsin provided consistent offense as the Falcons defeated Marian University men’s lacrosse (4-10, 1-5 MLC) 10-1 at Smith Field.
CUW would jump out early on the Sabres scoring three goals and holding Marian to no shots on goal. Marian bounced back in the second quarter as they held possession much more but were unable to score. Marian would win the turnover battle 7-4 in the quarter and had a 7-5 advantage in ground balls. The Sabres defensively also held CUW to only one goal as the Falcons took a 4-0 lead into halftime. Offensively, Marian had nine shots in the quarter, their most for any quarter in the game.
The third quarter was also similar to the second quarter where Marian played well but still couldn’t find the back of the net. It wasn’t until the final stanza that the Sabres broke through when Nick Klotz found the back of the net at the 10:37 mark with a man-advantage. The Sabres had another strong quarter offensively with eight shots, while also only turning the ball over three times.
Marian will take an extended break before they host Fontbonne Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. from Smith Field.
