Sabre men’s lacrosse drops final road game of inaugural season

BELOIT, Wis. – Marian University men’s lacrosse (5-11, 2-6 MLC) dropped the final road game of their inaugural season falling to Beloit 17-7.

Three of the seven Marian goals would come with a man-advantage and despite the difference on the scoreboard, the Sabres were only outshot 36-32 for the game.

Nick Klotz had a hand in both goals the Sabres scored in the opening half netting an unassisted goal in the first quarter before assisting Garrett Houlihan in the second quarter.

G. Houlihan then netted his second goal of the game to open the third quarter with an assist to Jeremy Eisele. Eisele scored his first of the goal next for the Sabres before Connor Houlihan found the back of the net to close the scoring for the quarter. Klotz then had a hand in both Marian goals in the fourth quarter assisting Eisele before scoring a last-second goal with an assist to G. Houlihan.

Klotz closed out the game with two goals and two assists for four points, while G. Houlihan and Eisele each scored two goals and assisted a third.  Rob Wilson led the Sabres with eight ground balls, while Tommy Gerlach had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Austin Finley suffered his first loss of the season recording six saves in the defeat.

Marian closes out their inaugural season at Smith Field when the Sabres host MSOE Saturday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
