Sabre men’s hockey suffers sweep at Adrian after 5-1 loss

ADRIAN, Mich. – Marian University men’s hockey (3-3-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) fell to Adrian by a 5-1 final to close out a non-conference series.

The Bulldogs needed just 1:17 to open the scoring for the game but the Sabres found an equalizer at the 6:43 mark.  Junior Parker Colley was the goal scorer for the Sabres, his third of the season, with assists to freshman Mason Richey and sophomore Blake Kleiner.  Adrian would find the back of the net with just 1:09 left in the period, however, while on the power play to take a 2-1 lead.

The second period saw no scoring and the Bulldogs outshoot the Sabres 12-8.  The Bulldog special teams would have a strong final period scoring a pair of man-advantage goals along with an empty-net goal to put the final at 5-1.

Sophomore Colby Muise (2-2-0) had a strong bounce-back performance making a career-high 34 saves on the 38 shots he faced.

Marian travels to Trine for a 4 p.m. (CDT) puck drop tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 14, in non-conference action.
