DULUTH, Minn. – Marian University men’s hockey (6-6-0, 4-2-0 NCHA) was defeated by St. Scholastica in the finale of an NCHA series by a 5-1 score.
The first period looked to be headed to a 0-0 tie after 20 minutes, but the Saints were able to score with just 40 seconds left on the clock to go into the intermission ahead 1-0. St. Scholastica then scored three goals in the second period, one on the power play and another with an extra attacker, to go up 4-0 after two periods.
Sophomore Ty Enns was able to get the Sabres on the board with his ninth goal of the season at the 13:52 mark of the third period, an assist to junior Nathan Walker. The Saints would score just 36 seconds later, however, to ice their victory at 5-1.
St. Scholastica once again had a small advantage in shots at 29-26 with sophomore Colby Muise (5-3-0) making 24 saves, 15 of which came in the first period.
Marian returns home to host the final NCHA series of the season against CUW opening the series Friday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
