MEQUON, Wis. – Marian University men’s hockey (1-1-0, 0-0-0 NCHA) had a slow start en route to a 4-1 loss against Concordia Wisconsin on the road.
Concordia Wisconsin jumped on the Sabres in the first period outshooting the Sabres 10-8 for the period. The Falcons were able to score at the 9:07 mark before netting a power-play goal at the 18:15 mark to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. Marian was able to bounce back in the second period and were able to get on the scoreboard at the 16:04 mark with their first power-play score of the season. Sophomore Ty Enns was the goal scorer, his second of the season, and he was assisted by juniors Blaine Caton and Gianni Vitali.
The third period saw Marian send 22 shots on goal but were unable to get anything into the net. The Falcons were able to ice the game with a goal at the 8:17 mark and added an empty-net goal in the final minute to set the final at 4-1.
Marian finished with a 44-33 advantage in shots and held Concordia Wisconsin to only one power-play goal in eight opportunities. Sophomore Colby Muise (1-1-0) made 29 saves in the defeat and made 11 stops in the final period. Vitali and Enns paced the offense with six shots on goal apiece.
Marian opens NCHA play at Finlandia Friday, February 5 for a 6:15 p.m. (CDT) start.
