Sabre men’s golf slips to fourth heading into final round of NACC Championship

AURORA, Ill. – Marian University men’s golf shot a team score of 338 at the third round of the NACC Championship from Stonebridge Country Club to put the Sabres in fourth place.

Marian entered the second portion of the NACC Championship in third after the first two rounds MU put together a team score of 636 from Whistling Straits.

Aurora still maintains the lead heading into the final round but are just three strokes ahead of Edgewood.  John Torres leads the Spartans and enters the final round with a three stroke lead atop the individual leaderboard.

Jake Sherwood and Maxwell Dye are each still in contention to earn a spot on the All-NACC team after their third round.  Dye led the Sabres with a 79 to put him in a tie for eighth with a three-round total of 237.  Sherwood had the third lowest round for Marian with an 87 and is in seventh place with a three-round total of 236.

After joining the team for the second semester, Caleb Martin had the second lowest round for the Sabres with an 82.  AJ Rambaud closed out the scoring for the Sabres with a 90 and Kyle Doyle rounded out the Marian lineup with a 99.

The Sabres close out the NACC Championship tomorrow, Monday, April 23 from Stonebridge Country Club.
