Sabre men’s golf competes at WLC Fall Invitational

HARTFORD, Wis. – Marian University men’s golf finished in eighth place at the WLC Fall Invitational after shooting a 320 in the first round and a 310 in the second round.

Carthage won the event by six strokes over Saint Mary’s, while Jacob Krugman of Lake Forest and Sullivan Schrandt of MSOE tied for the individual title.

Only two strokes behind was freshman Christian Taylor who finished in a tie for fourth.  Taylor finished the event two-over par shooting a 74 and 72, respectively.  Next in for Marian was freshman AJ Rambaud who finished with an 80 and a 79, respectively.  Freshman Jake Sherwood and sophomore Aaron Rick finished one shot apart to finish the Marian scoring with Sherwood finishing with a 162 and Rick a 163.  Freshman Kyle Doyle rounded out the MU lineup with a 192.

Freshman Chris Stephens led the second Marian squad finishing in a tie for 37th with a 160.  Fellow freshman Matty Taylor and juniors James Mathias and Jake Howie all finished in the 170’s with a 171, 175 and 178, respectively.  Junior Paul Kinder competed in the first round shooting a 92 with freshman Jake McChesney taking his spot in the second round and shooting a 93.

Marian is next in action at the Millikin Invite Sept. 29-30 from the Country Club of Decatur for the opening round and the Red Tail Run Golf Course for the second round.
