Marian University men’s basketball (2-11, 1-7 NACC) played tough but fell to Concordia Wisconsin by a 68-63 final.

The Falcons took the first significant lead of the game at 20-13 with 11:17 left in the first half before Marian went on a 12-2 run to take a 25-22 advantage with 5:38 in the half.  The lead didn’t last long, however, as CUW responded with 11 unanswered points and took a 33-27 lead into halftime.

Marian had a strong start to the second stanza tying the game at 35-35 within the first 2:45.  Concordia Wisconsin was able to take the lead for good building their lead to as large as nine with 2:19 left to play.  The Sabres battled back cutting the Falcon lead down to as little as one with 21 seconds remaining after a 9-1 run.  CUW was able to put the game away with four free throws in the final 21 seconds and set the final at 68-63.

Off the bench, sophomore Dylan Gmeiner had a career-game scoring 22 points with six rebounds, both team-highs.  Senior Trentin Fouse also had a career-game with a career-best 20 points off of 7-8 (.875) shooting with four three-pointers.

Marian returns home to take on Illinois Tech Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a 7 p.m. tip.
