RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Marian University men’s’ basketball (4-20, 3-16 NACC) fell at Concordia Chicago 84-68 in their final road game of the year.
The game proved to be one of several momentum shifts as each team found success for extended periods of time. Marian opened the first 10 minutes of the first half outscoring the Cougars 19-8 only to have CUC chip away at that lead and tie the game at 25-25 with four minutes to play in the half. Those final four minutes saw CUC go on a 15-8 run to take a 40-33 lead into the break.
Marian once again had a strong start to the half using a 15-4 spurt to take a 48-44 lead with 14:38 left in the game. This lead wouldn’t last long, however, as CUC went on a 24-10 run to go up 68-58 with 7:42 left to play. The Cougars used this momentum to cruise to the win and scored the final six points of the game.
Junior Justin Wilson led the Sabres with a team-best 11 points, while freshman Matt Hickey came off the bench to chip in 10 points. Wilson also had six rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the defeat.
Marian closes out the season hosting MSOE for a 2 p.m. tip Saturday, Feb. 22.
