Gregory Rosenthal has been selected as the new full-time assistant men’s coach for the Sabre soccer program announced head coach Craig Peltonen.

“So many people in the Milwaukee area that I respect and trust had an outpouring of great things to say about Greg,” commented Peltonen.  “We wanted someone that can recruit and Greg is a very personable young man and someone that can bring something new to our soccer program with his professional experience in New Zealand.”

Rosenthal joins the Marian coaching staff after serving as a coach for the Bavarian Soccer Club in Wisconsin where he was responsible for the U8 and U10 academy teams as well as working with the boys U18 MRL team.  He was also responsible for developing more than 50 kids during his time at the BSC.

Rosenthal also spent time as program coordinator for recruiting and skills at the Ole Football Academy in New Zealand.  Also in New Zealand, he served as an assistant coach of logistics for Suva Fiji of the OFC Champions League.  In this role, he managed several aspects of the team along with compiling scouting reports.

“I’m very excited to be working alongside coach Peltonen,” commented Rosenthal.  “I look forward to learning from him and his extensive experience at the collegiate level.  I would like to thank coach Peltonen and the hiring committee for this opportunity and hope to lead Marian men’s soccer to new heights in the immediate future.”

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Rosenthal had a decorated soccer career where he was a team captain for three of his four seasons as a Panther.  He was also a First Team All-Horizon League honoree his senior season and a member of the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team his freshman year.

Following his collegiate career, Rosenthal played for four professional teams from 2011-2015.  He started his professional career in Sweden where he played for Gamla Upsala and Valsta Syrianska before traveling to New Zealand to play for Western Suburbs and Exodus Team Wellington.

Rosenthal also currently plays on the powerful Bavarian men’s team in the Premier League of America.
