Rodewald selected as Marian’s September Teacher of the Month

 FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Kathy Rodewald, of West De Pere Middle School was selected as Marian University’s September Teacher of the Month recipient.

A native of the Manitowoc area, Rodewald has served as a special education teacher at West De Pere Middle School since 2008. After earning her undergraduate degree at Carthage College, Rodewald taught at McKinley Elementary School in Kenosha and Whitewater Middle School in Whitewater. 

Working in special education has provided
me with challenge and excitement,“My philosophy of teaching
revolves around helping students and families see amazing potential regardless
of their learning needs. My belief is that teaching students to have a variety
of skills and focusing on ways to regulate their emotions and stressors will
translate into successes in all areas of life.”

The Teacher of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and WIXX, highlights one area teacher each month. Marian University presents each recipient with a complimentary gift certificate valid for a one credit graduate level professional development course worth $250. In addition, each Teacher of the Month recipient will receive a wine gift basket from Forgotten Fire Winery or Falling Waters Winery; a $100 gift certificate from the Day Spa; a $100 gift certificate from School House; a 100 wing party from The Bar, Hagemeister Park or Graystone Ale House; apparel from Marian University; and a cake from Festival Foods for the teacher’s lounge.

Deserving teachers may be nominated by visiting Marian University will select one teacher at the end of each month.
