Record-setting weekend nets Strainis NCHA weekly award

Hockey player Lindsey Strainis WAUKESHA, Wis. – Junior Lindsey Strainis has been named the NCHA Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Sabres to a sweep of Trine announced the league office Tuesday.

Strainis became the all-time leader for wins and shutouts in the sweep of the Thunder with a 3-0 win in the opener and a 4-1 victory in the finale.  Strainis opened the series with an 18-save shutout before adding another 18-save performance in the finale where she only allowed one power-play goal. She closed out the weekend with a .973 save percentage to go with her 36 total saves.

Marian hits the road for a non-conference matchup against UW-Stevens Point tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 21, with the puck being dropped at 7 p.m.
