MILWAUKEE – Senior Paige Rauhut and sophomore Kaley Ludvigsen of Marian University softball have been named the NACC players of the week, as voted on by the sports information directors of the league.
Rauhut (McHenry, Ill.) continued to dominate in the circle leading Marian to a 5-1 win in the opener of a doubleheader against Ripon. She tossed her third complete game of the season allowing just one run over 7.0 innings scattering five hits and striking out seven hitters. After allowing one run in the first inning, Rauhut only allowed one Red Hawk to reach scoring position the remainder of the game. In her three starts so far this season, she has tossed at least 6.0 innings, allowed two or fewer earned runs, and struck out at least six hitters for a 1.11 earned-run average and 7.37 strikeouts per seven innings average.
Ludvigsen (Manhattan, Ill.) went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate to lead the Sabre offense in the non-conference sweep of Ripon. In the opener of the twin bill she had a pair of hits and scored a run. She then had a three-hit game in the finale of the series, one of which was a double, and drove in a run. Ludvigsen has had at least one hit five of six games so far this season and is now hitting 8-for-15 (.533) on the season with three runs batted in.
