Marian University put up all of their runs in a four-inning stretch to defeat Lawrence 8-5 in non-conference action.
A first-and-third situation that saw junior Aaron Schauer steal second and sophomore Sean Meyer steal home opened the scoring in the second inning. Marian broke through for four runs in the third inning with an error plating the first run. Sophomore Nick Dugandzic and Meyer each drove in a run with a single before an RBI ground out from sophomore Alex Behr gave Marian a 5-0 lead.
The Sabres tacked on with senior Adrian Gonzalez scoring in the fifth inning before another multi-run inning in the fifth. Behr would hit a double to open the scoring for the inning before junior Nick Bastien was able to drive in a run to put Marian ahead 8-0.
Lawrence would score twice in the eighth and three times in the ninth but Marian was able to hold on with the final at 8-5.
Sophomore Jonah Landowski (1-1) earned the win tossing 5.0 shutout innings only allowing two hits with seven punch outs. Bastien and Meyer each had multi-hit games to pace the offense with Meyer scoring twice and Behr driving in a pair of runs.
Marian returns to NACC action taking on Illinois Tech for a noon Saturday, April 27.
