Van Ess (Oostburg, Wis.) continued to lead the Sabres down low in the post ranking second on the team with 9.0 points per game to go with 4.1 rebounds per game. He went on to lead the Sabres with seven blocks during the month and grabbed 14 offensive rebounds with a total of 29 boards. Van Ess has scored double-digit points in four of his last five games and had a pair of games where he grabbed eight rebounds. His top performance for January came against Wisconsin Lutheran when he put up 14 points with eight rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks as the Sabres fell to the Warriors 64-63. Van Ess is currently tied for seventh in the NACC with 17 blocks on the season.
Harris (Hammond, Ind.) has continued to be a productive newcomer for the Sabres this season and averaged 9.4 points per game with a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game during the month of January. She had two games during the month where she produced double-digit points but never scored fewer than eight points. She also had a pair of double-digit rebounds game with three games where she had at least three offensive boards. Harris also ranked second on the team with 11 steals and nine assists. Her best game came in a 70-55 victory over Illinois Tech where she recorded her first career double-double scoring 12 points with a career-high 13 rebounds.
