BISMARCK, N.D. – No. 6 Marian University ACHA D2 (14-3-0) dropped their second game of the ACHA D2 National Tournament falling to Iowa State 4-3.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in a scoreless opening stanza. The Cyclones opened the scoring for the game, but Dom Pajor was able to quickly tie the game in the second period with assists to Jason Vogler and Dan Liberko. Iowa State was able to score a pair of goals in the third just 1:44 apart to go ahead 3-1 before Marian was able to rally.
Carter Broton started the rally with a power-play tally with an assist to Vogler. Then 2:26 later Karl Lavoie tied the game at 3-3 with assists to Horne and Colby Sherlock. This goal forced overtime the second game for the Sabres in the tournament that required extra time. The Cyclones were able to score at the 6:14 mark of overtime to secure the win.
Iowa State held a 46-23 advantage in shots for the game, but Alex Kruger was able to keep Marian in the game stopping 42 shots in the game.
