Nhia Yang is serving as program director of Marian University’s Student Support Services (SSS) program. SSS is a Title IV (TRiO) program funded through the U.S. Department of Education. It serves college students who are low-income individuals, first-generation college students or individuals with disabilities.

Yang’s responsibilities include providing administrative, supervisory and service-oriented leadership to establish the SSS program. He supervises and coordinates the implementation of all SSS grant activities in compliance with Department of Education regulations. Students participating in the SSS program are provided academic tutoring, guidance in career selection, assistance with financial aid programs and scholarships, financial and economic literacy counseling and help with admission to graduate and professional programs.

Yang brings extensive experience from his previous student services positions at Winona State University—where he served as the interim director of the SSS program—and at UW-Stout and UW-LaCrosse. Yang earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish and his master’s degree in Education and College Student Development Administration, both from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
