Marian University women’s volleyball (3-12, 0-3 NACC) fell to Lakeland in straight sets with set scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-10.
The Sabres rallied in the first set after a slow start to cut their deficit down to as little as two at 23-21 before a service error and kill gave Lakeland the opener. The second set was similar as Lakeland was able to jump out to a nine-point lead before Marian chipped away to bring the score to 22-17. The Muskies would manage to close out the set, however, with three-straight points. The Muskies took over in the third set and didn’t look back using a 9-2 run to open the set and 8-1 stretch to secure the sweep.
Senior Sara Komosa led the Sabres on both sides of the court recording seven kills with 16 digs. Fellow senior Jenna Skroski added 11 digs from the back row, while junior Jenna Moehn had four kills off of a .375 hitting percentage.
Marian looks to rebound hosting Illinois Tech Tuesday, Oct. 1 for a 7 p.m.first serve in NACC action.
