Senior Paris Harris of Marian University women’s basketball and junior Colby Muise of Marian University men’s hockey have earned Sabre of the Month honors for December.
Harris (Hammond, Ind.) continued to put together a strong final season as a Sabre to earn Sabre of the Month honors. Harris led the Sabres averaging 16.3 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game to go with five steals on the defensive end. She finished with at least 14 points in three games including an 18-point performance against Benedictine where she made four three-pointers. Against St. Norbert and Concordia Chicago she was able to grab six rebounds in each game. Harris ranks third in the NACC so far this season averaging 14.8 points per game and is sixth in the NACC with 18 made three-pointers.
Muise (Yarmouth, N.S.) closed out 2021 on a high note to be named Sabre of the Month for December. Marian was able to earn their third Superior Showdown Championship to open the second half with Muise earning Most Valuable Player honors. Muise allowed just three goals on the weekend as Marian tied UW-Superior 2-2 and defeated No. 10 Aurora 3-1. He finished with a 1.44 goals-against average with 78 saves for a .963 save percentage during the tournament. Against the Spartans, Muise made 41 consecutive saves to finish the game and held the Spartans scoreless on four power plays. On the season, Muise leads the NCHA with 366 saves on the year and is fourth in the conference with five victories on the campaign.
Marian women’s basketball takes on Dominican Saturday, January 8 at 2 p.m. from Sadoff Gym, while Marian men’s hockey travels to MSOE Friday, Jan. 7 for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
