Mayer to serve as Marian University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs

Marian University has named Dr. Russell Mayer as the Vice President for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2016.

Dr. Mayer brings extensive experience in higher education, having served as both faculty member and in a variety of senior leadership roles. Dr. Mayer previously served in various senior positions at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass., including Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives.

Dr. Mayer earned his bachelor’s from Wesleyan University and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, and was an American Council on Education Fellow in 2012-13.

Marian University was founded in 1936 by the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, Wis. The institution has one of the lowest student-faculty ratios in the state, and strives to live its core values as a community committed to learning, dedicated to service and social justice and joined together by spiritual traditions.
