Marian women’s tennis sweeps Dominican for first win

OSHKOSH, Wis. – Marian University women’s tennis (1-4, 1-3 NACC) swept Dominican 9-0 for their first win of the season.

Marian opened strong against the Stars only dropping one set between the three doubles matches.  Emma Lewandowski and Carly Paulson earned an 8-0 win at the top flight with Aeryn Olson and Katrina Pokorny sweeping the No. 3 flight as well.  At the No. 2 flight, Kyrsten Bruce and Erica Counter were able to win 8-1.

Olson continued her strong momentum for a sweep at the No. 5 flight, while Aubree Helstad also swept her singles match at the No. 6 flight.  Lewandowski and Paulson each only dropped one flight at the top two flights, respectively, and Counter only lost one set at the No. 4 flight.  Bruce completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 3 flight.

The win was the first victory for head coach Patrick Schwoerer.

Marian will host Lakeland Saturday, April 17 for a noon NACC match.
