MILWAUKEE – Marian University women’s tennis received 128 total votes which placed them fourth in the NACC according to the preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the league.
Edgewood, the defending champion, was picked as the favorite to win the conference taking 16 of the first-place votes with a total of 192 votes. Illinois Tech received three first-place votes and finished just one point behind Concordia Wisconsin, who earned one first-place vote, in third. MSOE fell behind the Sabres in fifth place by just two points, while Wisconsin Lutheran rounded out the top six for the conference.
Marian will look for a berth in the NACC tournament for the fifth consecutive year this upcoming season. During this four-year run, the Sabres have reached the NACC tournament semifinals three times.
The top six teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for next spring’s NACC tournament. A pair of first-round matches will be played Monday, April 27, 2020, at campus sites, while the semifinals and championship match will be held Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis. The NACC Tournament champion will receive the league’s automatic berth in the 2020 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship.
