Marian University women’s tennis (8-5, 6-2 NACC) inched closer to a berth in the NACC Tournament for a fourth consecutive year after a 7-2 victory against MSOE.
The Sabres opened with a pair of victories in doubles action with Meg Hartzell and Celeste Degeneffe earning an 8-2 win at No. 2 and Kristin Houle teaming up with Kyrsten Bruce for an 8-5 victory at No. 3.
Marian then went on to dominate singles action only dropping No. 3 singles. Hartzell took the top flight 7-6 (9-7), 6-0 and Houle won at No. 5 6-3, 6-2 as the duo secured sweeps on the day. Emma Lewandowski and Mackenzie Meyers bounced back after a doubles loss to take No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-4 and No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-2, respectively. Brenda Ordonez earned a clean sweep at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win to secure the victory.
“Our seniors really shined on their big day,” commented head coach Brian Ottman. “The seniors really led the way today in this big victory. Everyone was able to play off of that and everybody played well throughout the day.”
Marian closes out the fall portion of the season traveling to Illinois Tech and Aurora Saturday, Oct. 6.
