Marian University women’s soccer (10-8-0, 6-4-0 NACC) pushed their win streak to five games with a 1-0 win at home against Edgewood to close out the regular season.
Freshman Shannon Coughlin was the lone goal scorer for the evening when she collected a rebound from junior Reilly Louko for her ninth goal of the year in the 51st minute. Neither offense found much success in the cold weather with Edgewood outshooting the Sabres 17-11 for the match. Junior Carley Schmit, Louko and Coughlin were the only three Sabres to record multiple shots on the evening.
Junior Danielle Deltgen was lights out once again for the Sabres improving 8-4-0 on the year with her fourth solo shutout of the year.
With the win, Marian reached double-digit wins for the third time in the past five seasons.
Marian opens the NACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will travel to Concordia Wis. Sunday, Oct. 29 for a 1 p.m. kick off. The Sabres fell to the Falcons 3-2 earlier in the season when the two teams opened conference play.
