Marian University women’s basketball (2-0, 2-0 NACC) had every player score as the Sabres earned a sweep of Alverno with a 74-43 win.

The Sabres started out red hot and never looked back jumping out to a 13-3 lead to open the game capped by a three-pointer from junior Sierra Strope-Robinson.  The Inferno cut the lead down to 16-9 at the end of the first quarter and kept their deficit in the single digits until a 9-2 run in the middle of the second quarter put the Sabres ahead 33-18.  The run was part of a 23-point quarter for the Sabres, their highest total of any quarter in the game.

Marian didn’t let up putting together their strongest defensive quarter out of the half holding Alverno to just eight points off 21.4-percent shooting from the field.  The Sabres were then able to cruise in the fourth quarter earning a convincing 74-43 victory, leading by as much as 34 during the final stanza.

Marian finished the game 28-61 (.459) from the field and forced 27 Alverno turnovers, which were converted into 24 points.  The Sabres also dominated in the paint where they outscored Alverno 36-18.

Junior Pairs Harris led the way scoring a game-high 17 points, while freshman Serina Pehowski added 15, and sophomore Claire Levendoski scored 12 points.  Harris also led the way with six boards, while Levendoski and freshman Marie Murphy each recorded four assists.
