ROCKFORD, Ill. – Marian University women’s basketball (4-16, 4-12 NACC) swept the season series from Rockford defeating the Regents 74-45 on the road.
The first quarter was tight with Marian managing a slim 14-13 lead but from there it was all Sabres. A 12-3 run opened the quarter for the Sabres as Marian was able to build out their lead to double-digits at 26-16. Marian would maintain this lead into the break heading to the locker room ahead 31-21.
Rockford was able to cut their deficit down to seven points to open the third quarter before 11 unanswered points put Marian ahead 47-29 with 3:25 left in the quarter. Marian then dominated the final quarter opening with a 17-2 spurt to go ahead 68-36 with 4:26 left in the game. This run proved to be more than enough to close out the game as the Sabres were able to cruise to a 74-45 final.
Junior Sheyanne Glorfield came off the bench to post a game-high 19 points, while senior Morgan Johnson chipped in 14 points. Sophomore Paris Harris was able to grab 10 boards, four offensive, while freshman Madison Holdiman had six assists.
Marian returns home to take on Carroll in their final non-conference game of the season Saturday, Feb. 8 for a 1 p.m. tip.
