Marian University junior Biology major Brock Weston has received a W21C Undergraduate Studentship with the Ward of the 21st Century, W21C, in Calgary, Alberta.
W21C, a research and innovation initiative based in the University of Calgary and the Calgary Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS), supports health systems research with the overarching mandate to improve patient safety and quality of care.
Weston chose to work with Drs. Elizabeth Oddone-Paolucci and Ghazwan Altabbaa as part of a project within the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine. The project involves analyzing data to assess the concept of physician care and address the stigma of stress, burnout, and quality of self-care for physicians.
The hope is that this will help identify areas of concern for physician wellness so that physicians can better care for themselves and, in turn, care for their patients better.
