Marian University to sponsor “A Muslim-Christian Dialogue in an Increasingly Polarized World”

— Marian University’s Social Justice Committee will be hosting Imam Ronald Shaheed and his wife Ms. Basimah Abdullah to speak at their Sandwiches with Substance series. The presentation titled “A Muslim-Christian Dialogue in an Increasingly Polarized World” will take place October 3 from 12:20 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Stayer Center Room 208.

Shaheed and Ms. Basimah Abdullah will be presenting the relationships between Islamic faith and Christianity in today’s world.

Shaheed serves as the Resident Imam at the Sultan Muhammad Masjid in Milwaukee, as well as the Director of Education at the Clara Mohammed School in Milwaukee.

Abdullah is the current principal of Clara Mohammed School which is a Milwaukee Parental Choice Program school.

“In the decade since 9/11, the acceptance and understanding of Muslims in America has been a divisive issue,” stated John Morris, Ph.D. assistant professor of Chemistry and Physical Science at Marian and co-chair of the Social Justice Committee. “Marian University embraces spiritual traditions as a core value and the importance of understanding and accepting those of differing faiths.”
