Marian University’s Student Veterans Organization (SVO) organized a Thanksgiving food drive for veterans in Fond du Lac. Forty-nine individuals and families, totaling 237 people, benefited from this drive. In total, 1,700 items were donated, $1,700 in monetary donations, and $905 in Pick ‘n Save gift cards.
Marian’s SVO worked with a local Pick ‘n Save grocery store and they served as a collection point. Additionally, SVO collaborated with Salute the Troops, a local veterans non-profit, and other Fond du Lac-based veterans organizations.
“My heart is beyond full,” said Maranda Abitz, SVO advisor. “I cannot express enough gratitude for my SVO members and also the community for stepping up so much and for their donations.
The Student Veteran’s Organization is open to student veterans, current service members, and families seeking higher education. SVO strives to assist students in their transition from the military to college life.
