Marian University students attend American Society for Microbiology Microbe 2017

Marian University students Breann Wenzel of Kaukauna, and Chelsea Mayer of Winneconne, along with Dr. Susan Bornstein-Forst, professor of biology, attended the American Society for Microbiology Microbe 2017 from June 1-5 in New Orleans.

Mayer presented a poster presentation on the “Seasonal Antibiotic Resistance Dynamics for Escherichia coli serogroups O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, O145, and non-STEC Strains in Bovine Stall Bedding.” Mayer received a travel award for her presentation.

The American Society for Microbiology Microbe 2017 was attended by 8,000 international scientists and offers current research and information in all aspects of microbiology and hosts more than 200 company exhibitors. This year’s theme was antimicrobial resistance.
