At the commencement ceremony, held in the Howard L. Sadoff Gymnasium, student speaker Hannah Buntrock, of Wittenberg, Wis., spoke to her fellow graduates about translating the sense of community they experienced at Marian into engaging with others and making them feel welcome.
“Although we may end up across the country, in new places, with new faces, I challenge you to be the warm and welcoming person that Marian has shaped us to be,” said Buntrock, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication: Public Relations and Strategic Communications.
The ceremony featured the graduation of 151 students – 70 undergraduate, 13 adult, 65 master’s and three doctoral.
“We are honored to have been part of the development of your faith and knowledge,” said Marian University President Andrew Manion. “Through your experience with Marian’s core values and Agnesian heritage, you have developed faith that will drive you forward, while enabling you to choose the right path over the wrong one, the kind path over the callous one, and the just path over the one built at the expense of others.”
A pinning ceremony for nursing students and a teacher commissioning ceremony for education students were also held.
Following the day’s events, graduates and their guests gathered in the Sodexo Dining Room and Michels Atrium of Stayer Center for a celebratory reception.
