FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Marian University has named Marcus Wiegert, systems support coordinator, as its February Sabre of the Month. Wiegert is a 2008 Marian alum who started working for his alma mater a year and a half ago. He says his short time as an employee has been similar to his time at the university as a student.“The best part of working here is the same experience I had as a student here,” Wiegert says. “The small campus feel makes it feel like everyone is family. From day one when I toured Marian as a prospective high school student, everyone is always smiling, very nice and willing to go the extra mile for one another.”In addition to his duties in systems support, Wiegert is also the vice president of the staff senate and an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team.“It’s an honor to be named Sabre of the Month,” he says. “To think it is only given out 12 times a year, that’s something that I think makes this award special.”The Sabre of the Month Employee Recognition Program honors faculty and staff who exemplify the Marian University core values – community, learning, service, social justice and spiritual traditions.
