FOND DU LAC, Wis. –
Marian University, in collaboration with several area non-profit organizations, will be hosting a “Giving Tuesday” donation event on Tuesday, December 1 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Marian University’s Center for Health Professions in downtown Fond du Lac.
“Giving Tuesday, which occurs each year on the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is a nationwide philanthropic event dedicated to creating a platform for people to ‘give back’ to their local communities,” said Tracy Milkowski, associate vice president for advancement at Marian University. “For the first time, Fond du Lac area non-profits have come together to promote Giving Tuesday as a way to raise awareness and provide the community the opportunity to make an impact by giving back to their local non-profits. It is a gift that continues to pay it forward not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year and beyond.”
This year, Marian University, Charity Club, Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County, Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership, Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac, Free SPIRIT Riders, the Sophia Foundation, the Fondy Food Pantry and the Broken Bread Food Pantry are partnering to raise donations, as well as collect food for the local food pantries.
“What makes Giving Tuesday so special is the coming-together of all of these non-profit organizations,” said Jacqui Corsi, director of marketing at THELMA. “We are united in our efforts and committed to improving the quality of life for all in the Fond du Lac area.”
