Marian University displays a new flag to recognize the Iroquois Confederacy

Student Tyren Boots with flagOn Monday, November 19, Marian University held a ceremony to add the flag of the Iroquois Confederacy to their display of international flags in the Cardinal Meyer Library. The collection includes the flags of nations of citizenship of students who have attended Marian University.

The Iroquois Confederacy (or Haudenosaunee, which means, “people of the longhouse”) is one of the world’s oldest participatory democracies, and includes the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora people.
