MILWAUKEE – Marian University track and field competed in their final indoor meet before the NACC championships at the Panther Tune-Up, hosted by UW-Milwaukee.
The men were able to see five top 10 finishes in the meet led by Jacob Cypret who finished in fifth for the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.27. Josiah Kusik was able to take home a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter dash after a time of 2:19.78, while Jacob Leiden was just one second behind him in seventh at 2:20.78. Leiden was also able to finish in 10th for the mile with a time of 5:04.03. Also in the mile was Jarod Silhavy who finished in 13th at 5:38.53, and he also competed in the 3,000-meter run finishing in 12th at 12:16.95.
For the shorter distances, Malik Tapp finished 11th in the 60-meter dash at 7.65, and Nathaniel Sampson was 10th for the 200-meter dash at 24.51. The Sabres also had a 4×400-meter relay compete with Tapp, Sampson, Kusik, and Cypret finishing in 3:43.59.
Kadeesha Duncan led the way for the Sabre women finishing in sixth for the 200-meter dash at 29.86 and third in the 400-meter at 1:08.59. Brenda Ordonez also competed in both events finishing 10th for the 200-meter at 32.96, and fourth in the 400-meter at 1:13.71. Adellie Requena joined the duo in the 400-meter coming in at sixth with a time of 1:22.73, while also finishing 20th for the 800-meter at 3:33.79. In a shorter distance race, Mia McDonald took home a fifth-place finish for the 60-meter dash at 9.47.
Alyssa Zuhlke once again ran a pair of long-distance races finishing 14th for the mile at 6:24.25, and eighth for the 3,000-meter at 13:07.91.
For field events, the trio of Kamajjae Patterson, Emily Grunwald, and Gabrielle Ramczyk competed in the shot put and weight throw with Patterson pacing the way. Patterson was able to finish 12th in the shot put at 7.42-meters, and 10th for the weight throw at 8.95-meters. Grunwald and Ramczyk then finished neck-in-neck for both events with Grunwald recording a toss of 7.36-meters in the shot put and 8.15-meters for the weight throw, while Ramczyk finished with 6.60-meters and 8.14-meters, respectively.
Marian heads to Carthage for the NACC indoor championships Saturday, February 23 to round out the indoor portion of their season.
