Marian track and field competes at SNC Twilight event

DE PERE, Wis. – Marian University track and field competed in their second outdoor meet of the year at the St. Norbert Twilight Invitational.

On the men’s side of things, the Sabres saw a considerable amount of success recording 24 points and finishing in 10th place.  The 4×400 relay team for Marian was able to finish in second place after recording a time of 46.02.  Jacob Cypret also earned a second place finish in the 400-meter with a time of 52.71.

Also earning points was Nathaniel Sampson who clocked in at 23.60 in the 200-meter to place third.  Malik Tapp nearly earned points in the 400-meter with a 57.95 that was good for ninth.  In the 800-meter, Josiah Kusik paced the Sabres with a 13th place finish after a 2:12.99.  Jacob Leiden and Jarod Silhavy finished 21st and 22nd, respectively in the same event.

In the 1,500-meter run, Leiden led the way with an 11th place finish clocking in at 4:39.34, while Silhavy finished 14th at 5:35.27.

On the women’s side, Alyssa Zuhlke was able to earn Marian points with her fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run after finishing in 22:33.37.  Jamille Banks and Tia Jordan nearly earned Marian points in the 100-meter dash finishing in ninth and 10th, respectively with times of 14.74 and 14.94.

Jordan also earned a 22nd place finish in the 200-meter dash at 32.54, while Brenda Ordonez finished one spot ahead of her at 31.84.  Ordonez also took home a 13th place finish in the 400-meter dash at 1:10.91, while Adellie Requena was 16th in the 800-meter at 3:43.71.

In the field events, Kamajjae Patterson led Marian in the shot put with an 18th place finish at 8.35 meters and the hammer throw with a 22nd place finish at 27.59.  Emily Grunwald paced the Sabres in the discus at 23.14, good for 18th, and finished in 19th for the javelin at 19.86 meters.
