Marian to host transgender day of visibility event

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian University will be hosting a transgender day of visibility event, “The Criminalization of Gender Non-Conformity” on Monday, March 30 from 2:30 – 3:55 p.m. in the Stayer Center’s Sodexo Dining Room. 

Owen Daniel-McCarter, Esq., will serve as the keynote speaker for the event. His presentation will explore social justice for gender non-conforming individuals through a transformative justice framework. 

Daniel-McCarter is a founding collective member of the transformative Justice Law Project of Illinois which provides free, holistic legal services to transgender people. He is the former legal Director of the TransLife Center, adjunct faculty at DePaul University and is currently the Policy and Advocacy Director at the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance.
