FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Two teams of students from the Marian University School of Business and Public Safety received awards in the Adult/College/Technical College Division of the Wisconsin Stock Market Simulation sponsored by EconomicsWisconsin.
Second place in the competition was awarded to Brian Berger from Hartland, Mary Jane Delica from Fond du Lac and Max Richardson from Green Bay. The third place team consisted of Kailey Bauer from Beaver Dam, Carissa Izydor from Mayville and Aaron Leonard from Allen Park, Mich.
Each team managed $100,000 in an online investment portfolio for 10 weeks during the fall semester, with awards given to students managing portfolios with the highest end values.
The students participated in the Stock Market Simulation as part of a project for their investment class taught by Katherine Schuessler, professor and director of the finance program. In building a portfolio, students research and evaluate stocks and mutual funds and strive to create the best-performing portfolio using a live trading simulation.
