WAUKESHA, Wis. – After making the NACC Tournament for the first time since 2012 last season, Marian University softball has been picked sixth in the conference preseason poll as voted on by the sports information directors and head coaches of the league.
Concordia University Wisconsin was picked as the preseason favorite taking 14 of the 24 first-place votes and 261 total points in the poll. The Falcons finished a game back of first place last year with a 17-5 record in league play (31-12 overall) and were runners-up in the NACC Tournament.
Defending champion Benedictine University was second with 257 points and seven leading votes, while Aurora University was third with 242 and a first-place vote and Dominican University was fourth with 218 and the remaining two top nods.
MSOE was fifth with 215 points, Marian University sixth with 160 and Concordia University Chicago seventh at 148.
Wisconsin Lutheran College was eighth with 110, Lakeland University ninth with 109 and Alverno College 10th with 68.
Edgewood College and Rockford University filled out the final two spots in the poll with 57 and 31 points, respectively.
The NACC’s regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament, while the tournament champion receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
